Search Douglas County Inmate Records

Douglas County inmate records begin with the county jail roster and then branch into court, state, federal, or immigration systems depending on custody status. A Douglas County jail roster search can show current local inmates, recent releases, booking details, charges, bond, and booking photos when available. The county roster is the first stop to look up Douglas County inmates after a local arrest, but it is not the right system for every person. Sentenced state prisoners, federal prisoners, and ICE detainees may require separate locator checks.

Douglas County Jail Roster

The official Douglas County inmate roster is the Douglas County Sheriff WI Detention Center Inmate Roster. It is run through the Douglas County Sheriff's Office website and begins at the roster disclaimer gateway. From there, the public can choose the Current Inmates view or the 48 Hour Release view. The current roster is free in the browser and no login was found in the research capture. The release view is also free and shows people released from the detention center during the prior 48 hours.

The roster should be read as a live custody aid, not a certified court record. The sheriff disclaimer says the information is collected from public sources and provided for convenience, but the detention center cannot certify accuracy or authenticity. That warning matters in Douglas County because the profile itself says charges and bail may change after court appearances. When the exact bail amount, charge list, or case number matters, detention staff at the roster gateway direct callers to the jail phone line for confirmation.

The current inmate roster screenshot below shows the Douglas County format used for roster cards, search, sort, and profile access.

Douglas County current inmate roster search and booking record cards

The roster cards are useful for fast checks because they combine a booking photo, name, booking number, age, booking date, charges, bond, and a profile link in one view.

Use Douglas County Inmate Search

The safest search path starts with the sheriff roster gateway, then moves to the current list or the release list based on whether the person may still be in jail. The captured roster showed more than one page of current inmates, so sorting and name search can save time. Last-name searching is the most practical first attempt because the roster does not publish a required search format or wildcard rules.

  1. Open the sheriff roster disclaimer and choose Current Inmates for active custody, or 48 Hour Release for a recent release.
  2. Use Search By Name if the full Douglas County inmate list is too long to scan.
  3. Sort by Date to find the newest bookings or by Name to compare similar names.
  4. Open View Profile for the full public profile, including the larger photo and VINELink button when present.
  5. Call Douglas County Jail at (715) 395-1375 if bail, charges, case numbers, or release status must be exact.

If no match appears, the person may have been released outside the 48-hour window, not yet posted after intake, transferred to Wisconsin DOC custody, held in federal custody, or assigned to ICE custody. Douglas County's border location also matters. The sample roster included an arresting agency from St. Louis County and a "HOUSED FOR OTHER AGENCY" entry, so not every person in the Superior jail is there on a Douglas County-only case.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office also promotes a mobile app download page. The research did not confirm any app-only inmate roster field, warrant search, or records request function. The public website already exposes the inmate roster, warrants, most wanted, alerts, crime-tip links, and sheriff contact paths, so the app should be treated as a supplemental sheriff access point rather than the sole custody lookup.

Douglas County Roster Fields

The Douglas County roster controls are simple but specific. The system does not expose a deep advanced-search page. Instead, it combines a name search, date or name sorting, current and released tabs, and pagination. These are the fields and controls documented in the research capture.

Douglas County Inmate Profile

A Douglas County inmate profile gives more detail than a list card, but it still is not a full criminal case file. A profile inspected in July 2026 showed a mugshot, VINELink icon, name, booking number, age, gender, race, arresting agency, booking date, charges, bond, and a warning about changes after court. It did not show exact date of birth, height, weight, eye color, hair color, housing unit, pod, court date, judge, warrant number, or statute number.

FieldWhat It Shows
NameFull public name, often including a middle name on the profile.
Mugshot / booking photoA single booking image on roster cards and profiles when available.
Booking #Local numeric booking identifier, with five-digit examples in the capture.
Age, gender, raceBasic profile demographics. Exact date of birth was not shown.
Arresting agencyThe agency that arrested or lodged the person, such as Superior Police Department or another county.
ChargesPlain-language charge descriptions, hold reasons, or status text such as housed for another agency.
BondA single bond field, which may show no bond or a dollar amount.
VINELinkA custody notification link from the inmate profile.

Note: A booking number identifies a jail event; a court case number identifies the filed case in court.

Douglas County Custody Differences

The Douglas County jail roster is strongest for people who are in local custody now or who were released within the last 48 hours. It is not the Wisconsin prison locator. Once a person is sentenced to Wisconsin DOC custody, the DOC Locator becomes the correct tool. Gordon Correctional Center is physically in Douglas County, but it is a state correctional center with a DOC capacity of 89 adult male inmates, not a county jail list.

Douglas County Records Requests

When the public roster does not answer the question, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office records process is the next local channel. The records notice names Christina Standley as legal custodian and cites Wisconsin public records law. Requests may be made by phone at (715) 395-1432, by email at standleyc@douglascountywi.gov, in person at the Law Enforcement Center, or by mail to the Sheriff's Office records unit. Fax responses are not accepted except for background checks.

A request should reasonably describe the record. Names, dates, times, locations, booking numbers, case numbers, and requested format help the custodian find the right item. The sheriff records page says some records may be exempt or partly exempt due to state or federal law, court decisions, HIPAA, DPPA, active investigations, or other limits. If a request is denied after an oral request, a written demand for reasons can trigger a written response within ten business days.

Douglas County Booking Records

A local jail record begins when a person is arrested, transported to the Douglas County Jail, lodged on a warrant, transferred from another agency, or booked on a probation or parole hold. The public roster confirms several intake outputs: booking number, name, age, gender, race, arresting agency, booking date, charges, bond, and booking photo. The sheriff site does not publish a minute-by-minute intake schedule, so new entries may lag while identity, intake, medical screening, property, and data entry are handled.

Booking status can change quickly. The roster might show a charge label before the District Attorney files the formal criminal complaint. Bond can also change after the first court appearance, and a hold for another agency may prevent release even if a Douglas County bond is posted. For the court side of the same event, court records after a jail arrest explain how WCCA, the Clerk of Courts, and the District Attorney fit into the case path.

Douglas County Inmate Visits

Douglas County Jail visitation is video-based. The sheriff visitation page lists lobby video visitation at the jail address and says four stations are available. The same page says remote video visitation and text messaging are available through Reliance Telephone for users with an internet connection. No weekend lobby schedule, remote fee table, dress code, minor visitor rule, visit length, or ID rule was found in the captured text, so confirm those details with the jail before arranging a visit.

That schedule applies to the county jail. It should not be used for Gordon Correctional Center or for an ICE detainee without confirming any ICE-specific limits.

Douglas County Inmate Contact

Mail to a Douglas County inmate uses the inmate name, Douglas County Jail, 1310 N. 14th St., Superior, WI 54880. The sheriff mail page says all items are screened for content and contraband, but the captured page did not publish a detailed prohibited-item list. For phone-style contact, the jail voicemail line is 715-718-6770, followed by the first three letters of the inmate's last name. Remote video and text messaging use Reliance Telephone.

Money deposits for Douglas County Jail are directed to JailATM. The sheriff page did not publish a local JailATM fee table. Before sending money, confirm the person is still in the jail roster, because released inmates, state prisoners at Gordon, and federal or ICE detainees may use different money systems. Wisconsin DOC prison residents use DOC money rules, PIOC name and DOC number, and DOC vendors rather than the county jail process.

Note: Confirm custody with the jail before visiting, sending money, or relying on a roster bond amount.
