Purpose of the Site
Wisconsin public records law makes many jail, court, and custody records available to the public, but the records are not kept in one place. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office operates the local jail roster for people booked into the county jail, while the Wisconsin Department of Corrections maintains a separate locator for sentenced state custody. Federal criminal custody and immigration detention use still different lookup systems. This site brings those roster, locator, facility, visitation, and records-request paths into a plain-language reference for Douglas County.
